Words of Wisdom

"Part of the process of recovery for me has been learning to manage my thoughts and gaining confidence that crises will pass; that emotions have motion - they move, they pass along, they don't sit still."

Coping with Crisis by Carolyn Spring.

About Me

I have a heritage in the National Health Service; I am aware that it is not always an area of service that will resonate with everyone. However,

I felt I wanted to be transparent about my journey into counselling and some of the positive experiences I have been able to draw on personally and that contibute towards coming alongside my clients now.

I have participated in a psychology group in the past; this gave me the opportunity to acquire new insights from a broader fiield of

psychological support and levels of expertise, to help inform my practice.

I have had the opportunity to acquire a deeper insight and comprehension of human behaviour, vulnerabilities, particularly mental health issues, across multi-cultural and multi-ethnic communities.

My transition into counselling was incremental. Psychology is a field that has fascinated me since a young age and which I would have liked to investigate earlier in life, but my life initially took a different path, after I had to overcome a significant loss at a young age. This loss has shaped my future and determination to find a path forward;it has also turned my heart and passion towards difficult journeys experienced by my clients, fostering a stronger desire to help.

Counselling:

I trained at Central Counselling and Training Services in Southampton  (C.C.T.S) and volunteered at their charity for 7 years. C.C.T.S

served the local community for approximately 30 years and

received an award for our volunteer support as Counsellors during the pandemic with Southampton City Council.

I also volunteer at a baby loss support charity in Winchester assisting mothers who have endured miscarriage, post-abortion stress, and babies born still.

I benefit from a creative nature. I play the violin and some piano, and have begun to create my own meditations, poetry, and music to help clients unwind. A work in progress.
